National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR) is one of the premier institutes of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) engaged in the field of science communication for the past more than sixty-five years. The Institute brings out 18 research journals for the scientific community and 3 popular science magazines targeted at the masses.

Science writing encompasses a wide variety of niches that can include writing for newspapers, mass-market magazines, trade publications, broadcast media, and newsletters, among many other avenues. Science writers play an essential role in advancing the social and political conversation about science and communicating an independent assessment of research discoveries.
