Library Automation is a way to become sustainable with the ever-increasing shift to a technology-based society, in terms of information dissemination, paired with the ever-decreasing amount of funding for libraries. Automation will help libraries who begin to struggle and are forced to lay off staff. Switching to an automated system allows libraries to add on features when they become available in the future, instead of having to do a complete overhaul of their collections and cataloguing methods. With the web based open source software knowledge of networking is very much necessary. The use of social media in libraries plays an important role therefore the awareness about web 2.0 technologies is also required.
Objectives of this course is to make aware professionals about open source software Linux, Koha, Dspace, Netwokring, and to practically train professionals for installation and hands-on working with Koha & Dspace on Linux independently.
The training will be mostly practical oriented. This will help participants in developing confidence to implement Koha at their respective organizations/ institutes.
